Reasons why Google will not index your site

I have a fairly new site about 4 months old and it is not being indexed by Google.

I have done this countless times wit many other sites but this one for some reason is not there.

I decided on this site to leave robots index, follow off was that wrong?

it is in a tough health niche.

    it has PR2 ,

    site map

    rss feed

    unique content

but no serp listings at all in the top 1000,

Google Analytics only shows traffic from Bing, Yahoo and not Google ever!

I figure that if Bing and Yahoo can pick you up then Google will too with at least double the traffic.

How does the site have a PR 2 but isn't indexed by Google? Maybe I'm misunderstanding you there?

The meta robots index, follow is the default -- it's implied and you don't have to add it to your web pages.

If Google isn't indexing your pages, you won't get any traffic from the search engine until they do or you use paid traffic options (Adwords). Google thrives on links, so get a couple of links pointing at your site from other sites -- use social bookmarking, post a video on Youtube, make some blog comments... Google does follow nofollow links (some - links from Youtube, for instance) , and if your site isn't terribly broken and it has decent and moderately unique content... Google should find your site soon enough.

Even in high-competition markets, you can grab Google traffic based on on-page elements only (not for high-competition keywords, though). I'm not even optimizing my articles or using unique content and I'm getting traffic in the 'personal loans' niche.

Also, if you meant that your website isn't receiving targeted traffic (low keyword-based rankings), it could just be that the keyword market is difficult and it'll take time, or you're employing the wrong marketing strategies in that keyword market, or maybe some of both. You probably won't use the same marketing strategies to tackle 'Las Vegas hotels' as you would phrases like 'custom scrapbooking supplies' or 'chef salad recipes', and if you're going after high-competition keywords, you have to look at what your high-ranking competitors are doing, and improve upon their efforts.

How do you define that your site is not indexed by Google? Just because you don't have any traffic? I personally never heard to have a page rank and site not to be indexed. Do you see any pages if you type in Google:
    site:yoursite.com

If new pages are not being indexed then that happens to many websites. One of my website PR 2 running for an year got all its new pages indexed within few minutes but a month ago
New pages were not indexed and never crawled for a week. What ridiculous was that some already indexed pages got removed.

So, i went to Google Webmaster Help forum and posted this question there. They had no reply and told me to wait for few days.

Now my site is back to normal :)

As others already pointed out, you can't have a PR2 and not being indexed. Try to put into Google: site:yoursite.com and report back what happens.

Yeah, if it's a previously owned domain you may need to wait a few months before it is indexed.

A PR2 that is not indexed.

    That's a good one.

The first thing to look at is if Googlebot is visiting healthfully and regularly, by checking your stats and you see only 1 page visited every now and then and you have plenty of backlinks then there is a problem.

So If Googlebot isn't visiting and the domain was previously owned then you may need to put in for a reconsideration request AKA reinclusion.

To request reconsideration of your site:

    1. Sign in to Webmaster Tools with your Google Account.
    2. Make sure you have added and verified the site you want reconsidered.
    3. Request reconsideration of your site.

    Some Tips

Well maybe i didn't get what you want to say but there are some simple method to understand,

1: your site can't have pr2 without being index, if it does then or is fake or site is banned by google
2: or you mistakenly add that your site have pr2, and your site is totally new, So if it is the matter then its normal thing, that google take some times to index new sites

So you can get what is happening with your site
