I could understand moving a thread to another forum, but I'd like a public explanation of why a thread would be DELETED if it was not defamatory, rude or inappropriate?

If the thread is against forum rule it will be deleted like social bookmarking, currency exchanges

I don't think anyone other than the mods can answer your questions as we do not have privy over the deleted thread, why not just PM them for an explanation?

    Ok perfect.

So then my suggestion would be this: Have an "Everything Else" forum category for things related to a parent forum topic.

    For instance the Google Forum:
THE search engine. This is for discussion about Google as a company, not for discussion of individual sites (SEO, PageRank for a site or "why a site ranks where it does" questions) or Google search results.

There should be an everything else section for people to discuss individual sites, PR for a site, Why a site ranks where it does etc as there is no book of "Golden Rules" for Google. The only way to do ANYTHING in regards to the Internet is to look at and use specific examples.
