Reasons for Decreasing Google Page Rank:

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by shruchi nagar, May 5, 2009.

The SEO experts all over the web have been battering their gums about the massive effects that update has made to rankings and pointing to all sorts of dramatic changes that they feel have been made to the algorithm.
The sites that are being badly affected have been using techniques such as:
    • Doorway pages
    • Hidden text
    • Multiple domains
    • Buying links
    • Accepting off-focus reciprocal links from other sites
    • Working with link farms and link exchange schemes
    • Using various cloaking techniques
    • Using duplicate content on different domain names
If your rankings on Google fell over the last month, you website has probably been affected by this ranking algorithm change.
Change in the Google ranking algorithm
Google wants to make its search engine results pages more relevant by removing some of the spam. It seems that the following elements are the most common reasons if your Google rankings dropped:
    • hidden text on your web pages (especially text that is hidden in invisible CSS layers)
    • paid links or other links that are considered outside of Google’s quality guidelines
    • overuse of internal links or anchor text as the sole source of optimization
What if website ranking have dropped?
If you were guilty of any of the above, and you lost positions, stop doing it, apologize to Google and ask them to have another look at your site, once all the black hat techniques have been removed from your site.
    • If you use CSS on your web pages, search for style sheets that might be interpreted as spam attempts.
    • Make sure that you have links from the right web sites. While it is not important that if a link is a reciprocal link or not, it is very important that the links are from related sites.
    • Do not overuse the same keyword in links to your web site. Use different keywords so that the links to your website look natural.
If your web site rankings on Google have dropped, don’t panic and follow the tips above. Chances are good that you’ll get your high rankings back.

Most of those things will not affect Page Rank!!! They might affect the ranking of page, but thats a very different beast to PR.

You're spamming many forums with copy and paste...
    http://www.kenkai.com/google-jagger-update.htm
"The SEO experts all over the web have been battering their gums about the massive effects that Update Jagger has made to rankings and pointing to all sorts of dramatic changes that they feel have been made to the algorithm, including that reciprocal linking no longer works, anchor text on links in no longer important, directory links are being ignored now, outbound links..."

Are you too dumb to write your own words? What's your objective? Just signature spamming?

    ROFLMAO...

If PR is dropping it simply means for some reason you are no longer getting credit for some of your inbound links, that you have lost some inbound links, or the old inbound links are passing you less juice because something similar has happened to THEIR backlink profile. This could be because of a LOT of legitimate reasons like pages linking to you being deindexed, links from a previously FOLLOWed blog suddenly being rendered w/ NOFOLLOW, etc.

Most of the things in the OP's list result in penalties and banning in which case PR isn't going to matter at all anyway (as if it actually matters when you're not being penalized).

Hmmm, internal links is ok since we ourselves controls it, but how to remove inbound links from other unrelated sites?

You never have to worry about inbound links causing you to be penalized at Google unless they can prove you bought the link, and even that is next to impossible since a competitor could buy a link, point to your site, and report you.

This is 2005 content. And I have nothing against copy and paste content as long as the copier is not trying to pass it as their own, just to promote his signature links and make people believe that his SEO services are any good. I like when proper source is available, so I can read more of it from the original source.

I think many of us are getting tired of the Copy & Paste members. The information is old and more important, missleading to the beginners.

Can I ask why so many are saying thank you for the tips in this thread at Digital Point, when the advice is actually very bad. The OP has posted this on a couple of other forums and NO one is agreeing with him on those forums (in fact he is facing a ban at one for posting really bad advice). He doesn't even know what PageRank is!

Passe! The abovementioned pointers aren't new at all! Duplicate content issue is just a myth.

seo is a continues process even if you reach the highest ranking in google it doesn't mean that you can seat back and relax millions of your competitor are also aiming that position, some of them are doing more than you can do and know several thing that you don't know.
