Reason not to upgrade to vBulletin 4 yet

Right now actually i already have license for vBulletin 4 Pulishing Suite, but i prefer using vBulletin 3 for sometime, because:

    1. Addons that support vBulletin 4 is very limited.
    2. Style is limited too. The diffrence between others style that already been shared by people is only the color, not the template it sef.

The difrence between vBulletin 4 and 3 is just the CMS (from my point of view). vBulletin 4 already have built in CMS. But i think we've still can use vBadvanced for vBulletin 3 as CMS, it's free and powerfull too.

I'm not saying that you don't have to upgrade to vBulletin 4, but what i meant is hold on for 2-5month until the addons and the style collection is larger. Altough there is an exception for a forum that already have more and loyal member, because it usually already have their own community, so don't bother about this thread. :)

    7. IB doesn't know how to properly and efficiently manage the development of vBulletin.

    Upgrade you'll feel better :)

vB4 is way better than 3.8.x, you just have to know how to solve the problems along with reading directions.

ChopSuey, no offense, but I have tried it in production and it really isn't for it yet - it is currently, rather unstable, and in some places unusable.

The new VBB style looks a bit tedious IMHO

Jelsoft? Dude, get with the program; it's no longer Jelsoft.

To answer your question: a good start would have been fixing the hundreds and hundreds of bugs before releasing the gold version. Many of them had been around since alpha/beta, but they just left them there for whatever reason. The search interface has been totally botched and is unusable until they fix things (although they don't seem to be acknowledging the issues).

give it time, 4.0 will be much nicer in future releases
I have some clients that are VERY happy with what 4.0 has given them so far

vBulletin 4.0.0 can be called whatever they want, I just consider it a late beta version in my head. Doing that really solves the underlying issue in my opinion. 4.0.0 PL1 = 4.0.0 beta 9

That being said, the current version is usable in a production environment, just with a few minor usability issues (3.8.4 has many usability issues as well... 100 or so of my small plug-ins I use here are simply to fix those issues). Some of the usability issues in 3.8.4 have been fixed (finally) and some new ones have been introduced. It's just a matter of me going in and fixing the most pressing ones, then we will deploy it here.

Those are better reasons not to upgrade yet :D

Style & mod issues come standard with all new versions...

IMHO, such 'problem solving' should all be done by vB in beta testing!

Remember alpha and beta was closed! I personally dislike the coding in this version, the style is optimised for speed of production, not product.

No, beta was not closed. It was open in mid-November. Several beta and all of the RC versions were released to the public.

Sorry, yes. I did mean partial - but either way, it really didn't help how the customers felt.

Jelsoft didn't want pissed off customers! I didn't call it Jelsofts product, i was asking if he thought Jelsoft could have done better if it was still theirs.
