Hello everyone, i was really doing good with ypn for a few months, but then suddenly the earnings have gone done drastically. any reasons why this is happening? i would appriciate if some of the real high rollers could please explain on how to go about this. i hear the myspace resource sites make alot with ypn. is it because of myspace bulletins or someting? also, what do you think about a site that are trafficing around 30K-40K unqiue visitors? could they make $400, $500, $600 a day from ypn??? all the experts please give advice to us rookies on how to increase traffic for vidoes entertainment sites??? thanks in advance
your earnings could be dropping because advertisers have changed, old advertisers have opted out of the content program, ypn retargetting your pages with lower paying ads, advertisers dropping their bids, increased competition in your niche eating up advertiser budgets before you get them, or any of a number of reasons. track your stats and you should be able to figure out where the problem is. fixing it may be a different story. as far as $, traffic is important, but so are ctr and rpc. if only 1% of your 30k visitors click ads that are only paying you $0.10, then you arent making money. just my 2 cents (and thats all its worth)
there is no definite answer. Some would say don't even bother with ypn on a myspace site, others would say it is great. as for revenue, like karagold said, you could get a lower rpc and ctr and make little, or you might luck out. just try it out, testing testing testing you may make $10/day on one category and $1000/day on another, all these variables are great because it keeps EVERYONE on their toes with risks and choices. do you risk $100/day revenue to hope to get $120? will you get $50 and when you go back only make $90? again, no definite answer - sorry I ranted so long.
Maybe they are preparing to step out of beta and let worldwide publishers in instead of only US ones. You can't expect that YPN will stay at these rates. Sooner or later, the prices per click will go way down (Google-style) and then i'm guessing there will be TONS of myspace, arcades, etc. here for sale. Didier
Im pretty sure it does, or at the very least seperate bids on Search and Content Correct me if im wrong.
Well considering I am a YPN publisher... I am almost 100% sure there are no search or content networks to opt into or out of with Yahoo. Could be a valid point however allowing the program to go International would also mean new International Advertisers would be brought on board expanding available ad budgets. So if anything prices will go up in some categoryies and drop in some others most likely. I also doubt a drop in ad pricing will force businesses to sell their websites. Most websites typically require little overhead to run each month... so whether one earns $10.00 now or $5.00 later per day there is still the profits to be considered. It may take a while longer to recover some funds but over the long run should see continued profits. Peace
content network that advertisers can opt out of. i am an yahoo advertiser and publisher and am sure of this. call ypn support and ask...
Well I am speaking only of YPN which is no different than Adsense in this regard. Publishers cannot opt out of the content network and the OP is a publisher as well so I was speaking directly to his issues with lowered revenue earnings. Thank you for the clarification.
yes they can opt out - as they can in adsense. content is optional. the difference is in adsense they can remain in content but lower their bids to next to nothing...
Hi greenflag there is not content or search network options for publishers in Google Adsense this is due to the fact that publishers are publishing ads on a website or blog. Those websites and blogs, make up Google Adwords Content network and the Advertisers now have the ability to bid much lower for content ads, and this why many Google Adsense publishers are seeing dropped revenues. (AKA SmartPricing) As for the Search network this would consist of Google properties and the ads displayed on such (SERPs, Gmail, Blogger Etc) as well as on the search engines Google provides search results for. Hope this helps. Peace
Google Adwords Advertisers can opt out of having their ads displayed on content network or sites that belong to Adsense publishers. I knwo this for a fact because I have opted out of the content network in Google. I can't speak for Yahoo Search marketing as I have never been an advertiser but I would think they woudl have similar system in place to allow their advertisers to opt out of having their ads displayed on publisher's sites. ------------------------------------------------------- My 400th post at DP!!!
correct - i misued adsese for adwords. but yahoo search marketing they are either in or out - but it defaults as in content network. lets pray and cross our fingers that ypn doesnt do 'smart pricing'
Well from my consults with a few wall st analysts, it seems with the release of Panama search platform (1st qtr 2007??), there is an all too good possibility that Yahoo will roll that way as well. I am preparing for that by moving into more affiliate marketing and lead generation campaigns.
