Really need help... complete overhaul from HTML to Wordpress

Hey gang, sorry for the long post. I'm kinda caught in cement shoes.

I really need some some help on this. I know some of you have probably been through this already. I have fairly huge html based website with a few thousand pages that I need to switch over to Wordpress. I've been holding off for so long simply because of the amount of pages I have and the great optimized search placement and traffic I get from these. I've been really agonizing about this for the past four weeks. I've even explored some type of hybrid alternative but I keep winding back to the same spot that I need to make the switch... and I'm no further ahead than I was a month ago. I'm usually able to cut from A to Z with issues pretty quickly, but this is killing me.

I have the theme and pretty much know how to duplicate the site (design wise) in WP, but have no clue how to put this all together. It's just looking like an insurmountable mountain to climb. I've been searching and searching for any form of step-by-step, tutorial, etc... but I'm blown away at what little I've been able to find.

The crappy thing is that it looks like I have to do this all manually, without the ease of Fantastico because of the thousands of existing pages (at least I think). I've boot camped myself on Wordpress (not a problem), I've got XAMPP installed and realize that the existing pages have to be redirected (303 or 301)... and that's about it.

I don't have a problem with the amount of work and heavy lifting this is going to require, but I'm really concerned about losing my urls and Google rankings and can't find anything that aggregates all of the info on how to do this efficiently.

Help me Obi Wan Kenobi(s), you're my only hope... sorry, couldn't think of anything else to say.
