Really lousy CTR

Not sure if this is the right section for this...hope so. I have a blog, 1 month old, Mr Market Rules. I've worked hard to get some decent traffic and have a pr2 already. But my adsense ctr is .15%, with over 5k impressions. The ads are picking up relevancy, and I think are placed ok. I know its a tough niche, lots of comp. Still, shouldn't it be better than this? Any suggestions appreciated.

I don't see any wrong in term of the ads position, but may need 50k UV instead.

I'm not Adsense guru but is it possible that the fact that you have the code on your site twice part of the problem?

Would your real CTR be .30% if the code was only on the blog once?

Also ... consider the source(s) for your traffic. Where are your visitors coming from?

I would bet that plays a big part in the CTR stats. Targeted traffic that is coming specifically for information related to your topic would (I think) be more likely to click the ads.

you need to play around with it a little bit. do a little testing. test different types of adsense ads in different places and see what combination gets you the best result.

I have been reading many books on marketing lately and sometimes I wish I would spend more time reading than writing. It is amazing how important it is to know your objective with writing before you start writing. If you want someone to click through your Adsense ads you need to get them to your blog knowing that you intend to bring them through an ad showing on your site.

This is an art and takes planning. It almost requires a blue-print to the depth of detail where when you peak their curiosity there is an ad sitting right there next to their mouse cursor. So really you are leading them to the click through. Just imagine you are the visitor... if you get to the end of the article and you haven't had a desire to get more and click on something else other than the back page button or back to the search to start over then maybe your article hasn't achieved what you are trying to achieve.

No offense, but I think you should start this thread at sub-forum Adsense.

Anyway, I am not sure if your blog is already doing well in SE since it is only month old. But since you have a low CTR, then I can assume that most of your visitors are coming from social traffic. Social visitors love reading posts and hate ads.

    Hope that helps.
