I've been writing for a site called RealSEO for a period of time now, and it has come to the point where it has a large amount of content completely relevant to this forum, figured you might be interested. I think this is terrible advice, yahoo can be a tremdous source of traffic so its stupid not to optimize for them
Very true, however, writing quality content + SEOing for Google gets you good search engine rankings in Yahoo.
Bingo, until someone with more resources comes along and buys you out of that top spot... I agree, I have ranked well in all three of the big three for sometime with a few sites. They are mostly non competetive. The competetive ones seem to do well in Google or else they do well in Yahoo! and MSN... there seems to be no other integration of the three...
Interesting theory (and quite a bit stymieer than some others, ) however, by optimizing for Google, as I had said in some of the other posts on Real SEO, I mean gaining quality inbound links at a steady pace. Yahoo and MSN both like inbound links, however, they also have an eye for good content.
Not in the UK you can. Best to forget about Y & M here until they get a slice of the pie instead of the crumbs of the left-overs.
Hogwash. Maybe true for obscure keyword phrases, but it's not so easy for the more competitive keywords. As long as gimmicks work, you will need to use them for the competitive keywords, because your competition surely will be using them.
Until Google makes a filter for a gimmick you use and you find yourself scrambling after their next algorithm change. The sites that don't use the gimmicks are the ones that weather the storms.
I agree with stymiee here. I pretty much have settled into creating content one way and have for the past year. It seems to work well for G and Y!.
Kinda funny to hear from a guy who has a gimmick like a reciprocal link manager mentioned in his sig.
Hmm, so reciprocal links are a gimmick now? I remember reciprocal links as a method of getting traffic since the early days of the web. But, that has nothing to do with how I create content on my sites. And surely a link about a free tool we built for people to use, doesn't mean you know how I do my "thang" Peter.
As I said earlier in this thread the fact is the facts changes daily. I totally agree that Yahoo and Google are two entirely different animals now more than ever. I CAN confirm that what works with Google DOES NOT work with Yahoo. I am noticing a large difference in what works and what doesn't, more now than ever. eg. Google tolerates link churning Yahoo DOES NOT. IMO, pick one and optimize for it based on marketshare...Google is a no brainer, for now. I guess my point is that you can't employ hard and fast rules to succeed with ALL ses there is too much of a difference already, and that may change tommorrow.
Umm, yea. The oldest trick in the book. I doubt there's a single member of this forum who doesn't understand that reciprocal links are intended to improve your search engine positions.
