Real Items in exchange for forum points

I participate in the forum at VGLan, and the administrator is thinking of providing real items in exchange for forum points. Though, the only real way to do this is to play the arcade, and points are difficult to gain.

So for example, an 80 GB iPod, would this be legal, or would they have to sign some kind of contract with the producers?

I've run a Google search but cannot find the right source for anything such as this.

It's like let's say, reselling items produced by another company. But, the people disagree and say it would cause legal issues. Can I have anybodys help/opinion on this?

How is that any different than arcade places that exchange tickets for real items (Dave & Busters, Chuck E. Cheese, etc...)? I would say it is perfectly fine, though they would want to speak with a legal professional in the area that the business is run from.

    It is perfectly legal.

If he has enough money, then he could set up something where when they win enough points he will just mail them the product.

It is perfectly legal and he can buy the products from any shop or online shop.

Depends what country they are in. If there are prizes involved then there is a chance that they will have to comply with gaming law or gambling laws if they are having to pay to play the game.

This is completely legal no doubt. When he bought the item, he has full ownership of the content. And like bluegrass said, its like chuck e cheese, their is no different only that it is on the internet.
