What type of API is this? Realtor.com or zillow? Any encryption or open source to customize and fit in other real estate applications and add affiliate programs from CJ?

I am a RE Broker and have had many diff sites up with MLS search capabilities.....the sharing of 'listings' online is known as IDX (Internet Data eXchange). It has changed much over the past few years and if you are looking for ways to gain access to a nationwide db of homes you might find more info by searching for the terms "IDX, MLS, VOW's"....you can also go to inman.com and peek around.

If someone has the data feed, like this ( ?? the link is broken) and/ or has aspirations of building an online RE directory/ portal let me know if you need some direction. I have dealt with most, big, third-party MLS aggregrators and related tech companies, tons of opportunity in this space and a true 'unfair advantage' can be had by blending several different data types and including ancillarly services while employing a hyper-local model....on a large scale.

This is illegal. You can't just "PULL" listings from MLS and other IDX of a real estate company.

You have to get permission from the MLS provider. There's a fee for that, ranging from $1000 to $2000 a year. You also need to ask a real estate company if he would allow you to pull his listing and put it in your own site.

An unauthorized feed is not legal. Yes, you do have to get permission from the local MLS organization. You don't have to go around to every real estate company and ask to put their listing(s) on your site (that alone would keep you very busy). That is what the local MLS group secures. I know of ways to post all listings across the country, legally, but the National Association of Realtors has put up some barriers because they did not want third party lead generation models. Their arguement has always been; "Give anyone access to our proprietary listings/ db so they can attract prospects and sell the leads right back to us? Leads that would have come to us anyway??". Long ongoing arguement on this.....some big companies have actually backed out of IDX, like Coldwell Banker.
