I decided to keep the "Read more..." link below the intro text of my articles specially for dummies. So I have 2 links to the full text: title and this readmore link. Is ok to stay with it? I know that anchor text like just "Read more..." is not good for SEO but my title has a proper text and I don't want to duplicate it in that second link. So I just wonder if it won't harm my SEO. I don't really care if those "Readmore" links will be ignored by spiders because they are for better usability...
I still think you would benefit seo wise just be rewording the "Read more" link to be different from your title text. And it would still be a good user experience.
Here is the main question. How are you linking for the "read more" link. Are you doing <a href="#readmore"> or <a href="tooAnotherPage.htm"> Usually google ignores the # sign links. But if you don't want the search engines to count your link against you, I highly recommend the format: <a href="mypage.html rel="nofollow"> The nofollow tells the search engine to disclude the link on the page. Please note not all search engines follow this format. It has been tested out with the main three SEs(Google, Yahoo!, Bing) that they do not consider the link in there page ranking calculations, however some of them put the link in there index to crawl the page.
I don't see why you don't want to duplicate the link using nofollow. I would just go with <a href="tooAnotherPage.htm"> which I guess is the same link as on your title (and then reword the link text slightly).
the format of my links is <a href = "http://anotherpage">Read More...</a>. So in this case, should I just add rel = "nofollow" and leave the anchor text "Read More..." as is or should I change the text? I guess after adding nofollow attribute it doesn't matter which text is there in the link... Does it?
Why is it so bad if the Read More link is there? I mean... the title and READ MORE both link to the same page, so how is it duplicate content?
you could avoid dilution in one of two ways: - add nofollow to the read more link - ensure your anchor link is above the read more link. i've read that google disregards the second link that points to the same page as one higher up.
Why not use targetted anchor text instead of read more? Shouldn't be too much of a hassle to change and start doing surely? Or you will end up like Adobe
