Read More help

    Guy i need a little help with the wordpress read more.

    I changed the theme of my blog and the new theme shows the whole post on the index / home page. What i want is it should show just 20-25 words and then read more.

    Now i want to keep the post thumbnails but want just 25-30 words of the post to show and then the read more tag.

    Any idea how one can do it without any plugins ?

    You don't need a plugin to do this, the easiest way to show a little bit of your post and use the "read more" function is when your righting your post, put the cursor where you want it to cut off and click on the 2 little white boxes in your toolbar next to the "spellchecker" (visual editing mode)

    you can try changing the line
    to
    It will show the first 55 words from your posts. If you want to control check http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_excerpt
