Looking forward to your book Joel. Also thanks for the list Hagen. I have been wanting to read one of Jay Abraham's books for some time.
I really enjoy it so far, and I will pre-order your new book. Because so far, I still don't get twitter... and it seems that I am the only one - jens -
@Jackson: I have no idea what your talking about when you say you hit a nerve. I really don't. All I was trying to convey is what I personally do myself. It works for me and I don't judge anyone that wants to do their own thing. I'm to old. I don't have time to lose my temper or get mad at people in IM forums. Good Luck, raycer
good thread here. im currently reading: Mastering Online Marketing By Mitch Meyerson once im done with that, im going to pick up a few Joel Comm books. since everybody is recommending him. and he is a member here. So 2 birds with 1 stone, support a member of DP and buy a recommended book.
I second that. Comm's is one of the worse. Bottom of the sludge barrel. I tell my readers to stay away from that clown. Old books, like Caple's, seems to be the best. I forgot the title, but I read one from the 60's. heh Very good. Ya gotta check out the oldies but goodies too. Go to your local library. Many of today's books and e-books are filled with lies, hype and just crap to fill pages, along with common sense "methods" that are read here 10,000 times daily, that don't even work anyway. Bottom of the barrel.
Glad you are enjoying it Jens. It got really good reviews (save for a few typos which we are fixing for the reprint early this year!), and it portrays a picture of real success stories that I think people can identify with. As far as Twitter goes, you are NOT alone! That is why a major publisher asked me to do the book. There are NO books on using Twitter for business in the bookstores. There are a couple self-published titles that you can order on Amazon, but my publisher hopes this will be the breakthrough book on Twitter. The marketplace is hungry to understand social media and those who have read the manuscript said we did a great job of explaining and making it easy for businesses of all sizes. Can't wait for it to come out in February! The publisher asked me what my next title will be and I haven't really decided. Any suggestions? Happy New Year! Joel
Well, I have many suggestions, but especially one book I have been looking for. And that's a book called something like "How to attract students". Actually, I am not thinking about how to promote "anything" to students, I am thinking about how schools should promote themselves in order to attract students (and how to keep the students at school). When I say schools, I am thinking about colleges and universities. I am not sure how this is in the US, but in Norway (where I live) and Sweden (and the rest of Scandinavia and I think the rest of Europe as well). Every single college/university is using a lot of money in order to get people to attend their school. There are hardly any information about the topic, and it's really hard to find out what really works. The problem with a book like that is that you might not get a lot of readers from each country - jens -
