Anyone have any ideas on reaching college sports enthusiasts? I can do my usual marketing stuff, but I'm not particularly into sports, so any tips and/or things to watch out for would be much appreciated.

    The website is www.deadballfoul.com

    Thanks! :)

If you are near a college, you could go put up flyers there...or you could pay people to do this for you. Create a flyer and "hire" college students in webmaster forums like DP to print out the flyers and post them around campus. You'll probably want pictures to verify.

You could also contact college newspapers (every medium-sized college will have one) and ask about classified ads. I can't speak for all colleges, but I'm at the Univ of GA, and people ALWAYS have their nose in our paper - a new issue comes out daily M-F...there's a classifieds section as well as large ad blocks on the pages themselves - http://www.redandblack.com

Thanks for that, I'll place a classified with Red&Black to test the waters.

The problem with getting college students to put up flyers is that a lot of colleges prohibit putting up flyers all over the place. And I am wary of whether these students will go the extra mile to put them in only "safe" places where it is allowed by the university.

Yeah, you're probably right about the flyer issue. We have all sorts of bulletin boards up all over campus, and I do sometimes see university staff going around and cleaning them off - I really don't know their policy on that at all.

If you do end up advertising in the R&B, let me know, as I would like to give you some feedback on your ad and the placement ;) - I'd also like to know what kind of traffic you receive from it - do you plan on using any method to record how many visitors come from certain ads?

Also, I dont know what the rates are like with the R&B, but if the paid black and white or colored ads are not too much...I'd recommend going with those. As all classifieds are, the classifieds in the R&B are always quite crammed. I'd say 30-40 on the same page. I'll be one to say that I never look at the classifieds. I do look at the ads though, at least a lot of them.

Anywho, lemme know what you end up doing...I'm interested to know the results :)

BTW, I am in no way affiliated with the Red & Black, haha, so don't think I'm trying to persuade you into buying ad space or anything...besides, I don't think they need it anyways, the ad space is always full it seems.

Yeah, the regular ads would definitely be much better, but I have a feeling they're going to cost a bit. The classifieds is less than $10/day so I don't mind giving that a shot without considering ROI.

I don't have any method to calculate referrals from offline advertising. I could advertise the link as domain.com/rnb or similar but its quite a futile effort really. I do track online referral stats though.

Any suggestions on ad copy for the R&B? :D

    Advertise on facebook.com

Their announcements rates range from $9-$2X per day

Ah, yeah, facebook would be a great place. It is a bit pricey though...the price of $9-$2X per day only applies to one college you select. It would still be seen by TONS of people...Facebook might actually be a better alternative to school newspapers. First, it would be easier to set up and navigate (you can choose your school anywhere around the nation and see rates for each)...second, you could track ROI much easier
