You could reach millions of potential buyers for only $29.00.

No this isn’t a new shoot your site to the #1 spot on google, or traffic driving hysteria, or secrets to list building mania. It’s actually kind of old fashioned: Harnessing the power of the media using press releases.

I have several databases of newspaper contacts I’ve developed over the years to promote our books, and ourselves as experts on the topics of venture capital, entrepreneurs, business planning and book publishing.

For the paltry sum of $29.00 I’ll send your one page (no more than 350 words) press release to 417 newspaper feature editors/reporters, 76 newspaper business editors and 36 Business Journal editors. That’s a total of 529 contacts. You pay just about five cents each. Payment is through Paypal. Just PM me.

If your press release is sports oriented I’ll throw in 99 newspaper sports editors. If it’s a book you can have 251 newspaper book editors contacted, as well as the contacts above.

Circulation of these newspapers range from 23,800 to 2,220,000. Only newspapers in the United States are in the database. The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and LA Times are just some of the major papers included.

These are not generic editor @ the New York Times.com addresses. Nearly all of them are personalized email addresses to the specific editor by name. The editors are contacted individually, not with a mass mailing or bcc.

The emailed press release will have your contact information on it and your return address. If the editor is interested they will contact you directly. Make sure you include your phone number on the press release. Editors on deadline don’t want to wait for emails to be answered.

There’s no guarantee your release will be picked up.

First DP members to sign up get priority. I may have to stagger the releases through the week. I’ll tell you when your release will be scheduled for distribution and I’ll email you after I’ve sent them out.

Oh, as an added bonus, if your city is not one that I have a contact for, I’ll find the newspaper(s) and appropriate editor.

For $29 you can have your news release distributed.

If you need to know what should be included in a news release it’s below:

First rule - A news release is not an advertisement.

    News Release

Immediate Release – and today’s date (or the date the paper should publish the release if it is time related)

    Contact Information:
    Your name
    Your phone number
    Your email address

    PUNCHY HEADLINE

Try not to have the headline be the same old, same old. New Book Released by Local Author. Or New Website Tells Why Your Kids Are Rotten. This is make it or break it time. The headline is what will entice the reporter, or editor, to read your release. Use a headline like Five Reasons Kids Are Rotten: And What Parents Can Do About It. Think about the main benefit of your product and use that benefit as the headline.

(City you live in – Today’s Date) In the first paragraph answer the who, what, why and where. Sometimes that’s all the reporter will read. Don’t bury important information farther down in the release. You can expand on each of those factors: who, what, why, and where later on in the release.

Keep your approach newsworthy. Of course you are excited that your product/book is being released/published, but why should anyone else be excited? Reporters are looking for news. Stress the benefits to the customer. How will your product improve their life, make them richer, smarter, thinner, or more beautiful? See if you can relate your product to today’s news or events.

The release should be written in the third person.

The news release shouldn’t be more than one page single spaced, or about 350 words. Although many smaller publications may print the release as is, most newspapers will want to use the release as just the beginning of their story.

    Triple check grammar and spelling.

If you have a spam filter, send the release to yourself to see if it gets caught. Most filters will tell you why they filed an email as spam, then you can reword so it doesn’t get caught.
