RE: Stumble Exchanges

To all those threads regarding Stumble Exchanges, and suggestions for an Exchange Forum see this post:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=447149

Support the thread by handing out negative reps to persistant spammers. That's right, spammers. The forum is for FREEBIES. If I was to post an auction for my site in this forum, I'm sure it would get deleted and I would get an infraction. So somebody tell me why the Freebies forum is an exception.

No section will be made for bookmarking exchanges. (Moderators already said NO)

Yellowberry.org is not a moderator and the things he posted on his thread is just a ADVICE
    NOT a RULE

if you read the description of freebie
Looks like exchanges request can stay in freebie ;)

Some lines from your thread :

yea so all can abuse iTrader option

    Read the freebie description

You're not mod nor admin,so don't make rules yourself..

Requests,Exchanges,Freebie belongs to Freebie section IMO.

I know I'm not mod, and I know I'm not admin, therefore I am not making up the rules. Not once did I make up any rules myself, I simply outlined statments from the sticky thread.

And if the sticky thread contains advice, and not rules, then why sticky it? What use is stickying a topic which makes statements and outlines rules which are not even true?

Yellowberry.org might not be a moderator but his post has been made a sticky! Does that mean the powers that be agree with what's in the post?

However, Freebies does seem to be the best place for sb exchanges as no section will be made for these exchanges. I wouldn't want them up there with legitimate BSTs.

    Just my opinion...

You will report exchange threads but no action can be taken for it as there is no rule like that they can't post exchange requests

How come you saying that they are spamming ?

That sticky thread needs to be rewrite now,
because sticky thread created before when people start asking for bookmarking exchanges.

There's a basic rule created to avoid reputation system abusing
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=397497

    Section description say it all..

I don't see the point why everyone just ignoring two lines of the description

You are completly ignoring the fact there is a sticky thread in forum (that has been there longer than you), which clearly outlines the rules of the forum. Seriously, why would the mods sticky the thread if they didn't support it?

I am saying the posts are spam because they are. A lot of different types of posts can be defined as Spam, including off-topic posts. When a sticky thread posted by a respected member outlines some rules, including that you can not request things in return, and then everyone does, I would regard that as spam, besides the thread not actually offering anything free.

If I was to offer my site for sale and post it in the SEO or Google forum, that would be off-topic and regarded as spam, wouldn't it?

I believe the sticky was in place before all the stumbles, diggs, etc became such a hot area. These type posts have to go somethere and at this time we are placing them in the freebies forum

That is understandable, and that is all that needed to be said.

If there is no light of an Exchange forum being created, then perhaps a better suggestion would be to re-write, create a new sticky thread or even un-sticky the current thread to prevent people from being mislead from what is and what isn't allowed.

One thing that makes me wonder though, is I really don't see the problem in creating an exchange forum? I don't see the big deal, it's so simple and it's a win-win situation for everybody.

They'll not create an exchange forum because they don't want to be seen condoning what's against the Stumble, Digg et al rules. I've been voicing my opposition to these exchange threads for a long time - quite simply they ain't free!

Who's saying an exchange forum would promote the use of Stumble and Digg exchanges? Unless the forum description was, "Post all your Stumble exchanges here!", then there is nothing to suggest that.

What about if I wanted to exchange an article with someone? Or howabout a memberlist? What about if I was willing to make a comment on someone's blog in exchange for a comment on mine? There's a whole bunch of things that can be exchanged.

And besides that, what difference would it make? All StumbleUpon or Digg would have to do is take a look into the Freebies section and 19 out of 20 threads are Stumble/Digg exchanges anyway.

    Somewhere ..
Exchange requests pretty suitable at freebie
else :)rolleyes:) , just create a sub-forum under freebie section
    Freebie >> Exchange

but still i think, exchanges requests are OK at freebie section

I'm not ignoring that theres a sticky where Yellowberry advice something
but first thing to notice is the name of the board and the description.

Yes, and the name of the board is freebies. There's nothing free about an exchange. You don't have to buy something with currency you know.

Here you saying that you can't ASK FOR FREE THINGS
but it can be clearly seen in description that IF YOU ARE SEEKING FOR SOME FREE SERVICE OR PRODUCT you can post there
