Hi, not sure how go about this but I am confused if we re-structure a website meaning, re-code it from scratch due to poor coding will it effect our SERP? Also, will it effect how many pages are indexed in google? As of now google is indexing the pages, all our paging will stay same no new pages or any of that same categories, just the coding will be re-done from scratch and then implemented. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated...

    thanks!

There would be no impact on your website status in search engines if you only recode the website until you do not make some major changes in linking structure and content. There might be some fall in rankings due to change in content position because of recoding.

Placement of the text, will effect your SERP. There is a difference when Google finds your keywords within top of the site and bottom of the site.

It could actually help your position if you take SEO into consideration when re-coding the structure. A good text-based naviagtion and a well laid out page with keyword rich (but not spammed) headers are what every optimised website should have.
