I am putting a new website together and wanted to ask about site structure and SEO.

Let say that the product we are selling is flowers and we intend to list our products along with technical information about flowers.

My though that the best way to structure the site will be something like this.

    Root
    [images]
    list all images

    how-to-maintain-flowers.php

    [ about ]
    about-us.php
    terms.php
    privacy.php

    [products]
    red-flowers.php
    blue-flowers.php
    green-flowers.php
    black-flowers.php
    seeds.php
    cards.php
    pots.php

    [services]
    gift-wrap.php

    [articles]
    how-to-maintain-flowers.php
    how-to-feed-flowers.php

    [conact]
    contact-us.php
    feedback.php

    [prices]
    flower-pricing.php
    wrap-pricing.php
    seed.pricing.php

Does anyone have any suggestions or a better way to do it? Keeping in mind that SEO is the most important factor here. Recently guided by Google's site structure guidelines which were vague.

    Thanks heaps
    Hyperion

Also to add to the above, all folders will fall just under the domain.

    Example: www. sitename.com/products/red-flowers.php

I get what you're saying - it all looks good there, try and keep below 100 outbound links though. If it looks like you're going to go above that then categorise more effectively - it'll probably work out better for your seo then anyway as your tier 1 sub pages will be more relevant to a single topic than your home page and will rank more highly...
