Hey, ty for the feedback. here is another try from me to the music icon, Hope you like this one better (if not i still have some more ideas):

 

how about this one for dance this hope you like it

 

freekazoid and Duff100 - funny, same idea at the same time! (Duff100 - much better execution) Although it's interesting, I am not entirely sold on it and I'd like to see what else is up your sleeves.

freekazoid - the DANCE icon is great for disco, but for example ballet dancers would not even think twice about clicking it. I know, it's not an easy one... but thanks for trying.

designerboy - thank you for trying. however, your concept does not tie-in the upper part of the header with the lower menu. It just makes it stand out on its own even more. Not what i had in mind, sorry...

can somebody give me the font used in the icon

 

ifcmedia - thanks for entering! Unfortunately it's not what I am looking for at all. I need a modern, crisp, 3d-like background with a very faint pattern pertaining to the nature of the website, along with some sort of design that will connect the menu lines with the banner and logo. if I knew how to explain any more, I'd design it myself As far as the font, I am not sure what was used here, as someone else designed it for me. Sorry.

FutureSEAL16 - thank you for joining in. Nice quality of work, but turntables spell out: DJ. I am aiming at the music industry as a whole - rock, classical, hip-hop, opera, etc.

If nothing interesting comes in for the header entry, I'll try to draw a rough idea of what would probably work for me. I am not a designer though and I am afraid that by contrubuting such a thing I will effectively get rid of entries containing ideas that might be better than mine... So I'll wait a few more days before I do that.
