Re-design logo

Happy sunday Can i get your opinions on my logo re-design? I am aiming for a clean tidy look its for an educational site for people to practice their english speaking skills.

I'm going to be honest. I don't like it. I feel it lacks congruency. The Harsh black drop shadow really ruins the design. It doesn't come off as professional.

I made a little redesign to show what I think would work. You may completely disagree with my points which is not a problem. This is your logo after all and everything is subjective.

Thanks for your feedback, I completely agree. I took feedback from a few other people (family and friends) and they all said the same thing as you just have.

Consequently I have re designed the logo and am much happier with it.

I think you should get rid of the drop shadow. I think it's not necessary for an English tutorial business. The circle design kind of looks like a tech design so I guess probably get rid of that too or redesign it.
