Todays google logo has Ray Charles on it. Few questions .. would be nice to hear your opinion:

    1) Pardon my ignorance ... How famous is Ray charles ? Is he a world renowned person ? (for my knowledge). Does that mean that Google should recognise/celebrate all people as famous as him?
    2) On what criteria does Google choose its logo of the day? Like it celebrated the Korean Liberation Day.. but should that mean that it should celebrate a lot of others countries too?

Ray Charles? He's ONLY a legend in the music industry.
If you didn't know, maybe you're really young. :)
But seriously, many singers today would count him as their inspiration.

How/why does Google choose a logo?
I'd say it would based on some event that has some special significance.
Guess it is up to them to pay tribute to whomever or whatever occasion they choose to. It's their website after all.

Ray Charles is the Daddy of Blues n Soul, he is a world leader, he was a major artist on the Atlantic label. He died in June of this year, So that is my guess why Google honoured him.

Google employees probably make suggestions for special logos based on their own "favorites" and submit them to whom ever decides, no doubt someone at Google likes Ray Charles.

I knew Ray Charles had something to do with music, but I didn't *really* know who he was.

Ray Charles was such a legend in early R & B that most of our Rock Stars when they were kids grew up listening to him.

Robert Plant (Lead singer for Led Zeppelin for those who never heard of him) once said, "when I first started singing, I tried to sound like Ray Charles" and my style developed from there.

That will tell you a lot about Ray Charles influence on generations of musicians.

It is very likely that you've heard Ray Charles before. I'd actually be surprised if you haven't.

He's done it all: successful songs to Pepsi commercials.
