Hello, I have a site with about 300,000 pages. Google adds about 1 page per day into the index. This is very slow. Is it normal? Is there a way to increase this?
1 page a day out of 300,000 is indeed very slow. At that rate, teh whole will never get indexed. Don't worry, you will suddenly get a huge number of the pages indexed overnight.
I have had the occasional increase of about 10 pages in one day. But, usually only about 1 or 2 a day.
I have about 15,000 pages now, and is now a little over 13,000 indexed. Recently it has been going up by about a 200 a week. In the past it would go up a thousand or two, stay the same, maybe go down a little, and then go up a thousand or two. 200 sounds about right for me though now, because that is about the rate my polling site has been increasing.
We run several article directories with far more pages than we can count - simply because of the way things are generated. We build sitemaps for different sections of the sites to help out google - but basically it took the site being up and running for about a year before they really cared about the pages. However after that - it picked up gradually and now it works very well. We have sitemaps of the articles updated regularly and other sitemaps that we build by hand are updated regularly as well.
