Raspberry Pi - constant usage

    Hi,

I'm (unfortunately) not running Linux at the moment, but have a need for it, so I was thinking of getting a Raspberry Pi to use for this project. (Run a web crawler - written in PHP - off it.)

Has anyone been using one under constant usage? If so, have you experienced any stability issues?

A friend of mine is using one as a server and does not have any complaints about it. It is running 24/7.

(He was using an old PC for that purpose before but decided to switch to Pi because it has a significantly lower power consumption.)

Sounds good. I did find one post where someone was doing something similar and had problems, but it was just one experience (better to get a few, I think). It's next day delivery, so I'll order tomorrow and get it on my day off. :D

The Raspberry Pi arrived and it was very tasty! Sorry!!! I couldn't help myself.

Anyway, I have it set up, Lighttpd running and I've been busy coding. It's actually quite fast, I was surpised. Quick to boot, responsive as a webserver. I have offloaded MySQL onto my laptop though (eventually I'll buy a NetGear NAS and use that for MySQL instead and also for writing files to, so the SD card doesn't wear out so quickly).

I've missed having Linux available as a development system and the Pi really doesn't disappoint.
