there are 1,000s of dead links in DMOZ, one more or less unqualified listing won't really make a difference ;)

I still think bdmunee should try to work it out with the original owner instead of making this a regular auction.

I actually was following that auction and was going to pick it up because well how damn good it was and how cheap I could have got it.

But I was nice about this one since me and the owner live in the same city. :)

Well I guess this thread brings out the true personality of all people. I for one would sell this back to the man at the costs I bought it at and ask him for backlinks on his great site. Nothing more. I would not try to "blackmail" and "scam" him out of his hard earned money because I (bdmunee) am in simple terms "trash". I guess this is what is wrong with America these days. No morals or anything. Honestly shame on you bdmunee, shoemoney, and steganos. Cuz plain and simpley you people are scum.

Regardless of how the previous owner may have acted because of his feelings...

    bdmunee...

You should KEEP YOUR WORD and sell it back to him cheap. I am not going to rant about this spiritually or ethically, simply, your word is your word, no amount of money is worth giving that up.

Don't let a simple auction foul this up. I have had domains squated, and it is painful, though in this instance, it is much worse. There are obviously kids involved.

    Do the right thing.

    God Bless,

    Shane

Original owner is blackmailing emotionally! :D

I am sure he has $1500 to pay for the domain...

Same could be at other end!

I think present owner was fair enough, giving orginal owner a chance but I am afraid he missed it....

There's ethical and there's reasonable. You can't expect to get an expired domain back for free. If the original owner wants it that bad, he should pay market value. There are a lot of people who make money by catching expiring domains. If they all just gave them back, domains would never expire. The new owner should expect to have many of the existing links pulled though. I would expect the original owner would start contacting people pretty quickly to get them to link to his new domain.

No dispute, I agree the site is worth a decent amount of money. But with the original owner still very much in the picture that devalues it IMO. DMOZ could disappear quickly and easily and any really strong home page links will probably get yanked before too long as well.

DMOZ has already removed the listing - and I agree about the backlinks. The former owner is probably ticked off enough to contact all of them.
