can I ask if you know if there are any legal issues with using the work 'rapidshare' in the domain name?

 

Off the top of my head www.paypalsucks.com still exists and it's a hate site against paypal... so I guess it would be fine.

If you kept it "legal" as such, there would be no problem.

If you turned it into a warez forum, then I would be more worried about adobe etc. chasing me down then rapidshare (I think the law is that aslong as it's not hosted on your server it's ok... lots of other warez forums are around and have been for ages)

The reason I never turned it into a forum even though it's a great idea is because I don't have any knowledge of the legal implications and quite frankly couldn't be bothered risking anything

I wish i had the money right now as this would make a great RS linking forum. I think the site at the moment is not very good as it just tells you what most people already know, but as a filesharing linking forum .... WOW.

Oh, you wouldn't keep it as is! Basically its going to get Pr in the update, and its ranked for lots of good terms, and has consistent traffic - which is what you are paying for (not the content or lack there of!)

I want to add google ads on it, to see how much money it makes per day (given that there are 100 or more visitors, I would say ~$1 a day)

 

I can understand the pr point of view, however RS is known and understood. Having a page like this will never beat information pages such as wikipedia and so although you might make a small ypn or adsence amount, I am sure more can be made by making a RS linking forum and offering premium memberships and private adverts.

You could even combine the 2 so that you have an info page as it is, but build in a forum so that you get the best of both worlds.

I am not saying that you are asking for too much or anything. I said in the first line that if I had the money now, it would have been bought already!

 

I meant if the buyer didn't want to make a forum, they could leave it as is and earn money (the worse the page is, the higher the CTR )

Yes, having a forum would be the best way - in my opinion - to utilize the site
