Had some big changes upword in the SERP's today. Some keywords went up 40 places. All my selected keywords went up.

Does this mean an update is imminent?

I've seen results move like that too - it doesnt necessarily indicate anything, but an update may very well be happening shortly.

For one site, I had about a dozen keywords come back from oblivion drop this weekend.

They had been gone for about two weeks, and they were some of my highest traffic keywords.

But... overall... in the scope of all of my web sites... I see nothing out of the ordinary.

RankPulse shows fairly heavy activity this weekend.

    Hello All,

Can anyone give an updated regarding their SERP’s for their keywords over the past 24 hours?

My typical experience with Google is that they update their index about every month of so. Sometimes I go 5 weeks and sometimes 3 weeks between updates.

These past 3 days, I’ve seen an update on August 1 and again on August 3rd where the cached has been updated twice in three days.

What is also different this time is that typically I have moved up by 1 to 2 spots every three or four days in my SERPS between Google updates. Then during the monthly update, I almost go back to where I started. I’ve repeated this cycle every month since April/May. From the April timeframe to end of July, I experienced some small overall improvements.

That’s how my SEO efforts have been up until now. With the updates over the last three days, I really lost some ground. I lost about 10 to 15 places in the SERPs. I also haven’t done any SEO work in the past 2 weeks.

    Anyone else see similar phenomena?

    Thanks

What did you do that you can blame it on?

None - absolutely no SEO activity was done over the last few weeks.

One of my sites had 35 keywords rise and only 3 fall today!

The other site which I track had 25 keywords rise and 19 fall.

The cause? Heck if I know. I've made so many changes it would not be wise even to attempt a guess.
