As I understand it, Paypal (in the past) frowns on "split" payments. However, there is news coming out of the Paypal developer community saying this may change... When, or if, it does, Rapid Action Profits will likely change as well. RAP uses the Paypal IPN to confirm payment, so that the customer gets delivered to the "Thank You", or download page, and not just someone "driving by", looking for a "freebie". With regards to the payment "feature", did you know that Rapid Action Profits launched, or was first offered for sale, over two years ago, at only $67? And, those that purchased RAP then, still get updates for FREE. This is over and above the ability to sell however many products one wants to sell, on however many owned domains they wish to sell from. As the marketplace has grown, and changed, so has RAP... Before this reply starts to sound like a sales letter, I'll stop... I hope I've answered your questions "Tangled Web"... Be Well! ECS Dave
Hi Tangled Web, Dave has given a more than adequate answer, but just so it's clear... it is against Paypal's Term of Service. As Dave mentioned, there has apparently been talk about allowing split payments in the future. However, I have been unable to find any official stance from Paypal to confirm this. Understand that, in order to split payments, Paypal would also have to recover both payments in a refund situation. Will the issuer of a credit card even allow Paypal to do this? It's a highly regulated industry. It would also (potentially) become less clear to the customer just who they had purchased from. Who should they contact for support, etc. There are a lot of issues to be addressed in any split payment solution. We are always watching to make RAP a better solution for everyone, but if you should find this before I do - by all means, let us know!
