I'm just coming off a 7 day ban and its very frustrating when they don't tell you what they ban you for.

For my last ban, as you can see I got hit for tread bumping, but I didn't bump any threads. If you go through the BST you will see between 25-40% (rough guess) of the people banned there. When you ban 40% of the people maybe the issue isn't with the people that are banned but with the mods who are banning the people.

A large part of the problems starts with the sellers here for a lot of the post go something like this "I have a site that I'm selling which makes x number of dollars and gets x number of hits. Sell price x dollars" No domain name, no proof of revenue, no proof of traffic and it results in people saying I'm interested, please send me proof of traffic or domain names, which get you banned.

So here are my suggestions one if people are going to sell or advertise in the BST section, let them include a domain name, proof of traffic and revenue, if not ban them for not posting all the required information. If they did that there wouldn't be so many people being banned for asking for things that should be posted in the first place.

Two if you do ban someone at least reference the post that they were banned for, don't put private because how else are we supposed to find out what we did wrong.

I don't expect this post to last to long since the mods here run this place with ruthless efficiency that would even make Stalin proud.

It only says "Private" if/when the post is deleted. You have the admin emails enabled on your UserCP, that means that you have received an email about each infraction. That email quotes the post that was infracted, and states the rule that was broken, and usually a more detailed explaination that was added by the moderator that issued the infraction.

If people want to know proof of traffic or domain names, why can't they just send the OP a PM as is stated in the rules? We don't force people to post domain names in the thread, because often buyers and sellers alike wish for that information to remain out of the eyes of search engines.

Private means the post was deleted. Nothing can really be done about that since, well... it's deleted... the system can't give you a working link for it.

But you *can* view the post if you check your email (you get an email for infractions that include the original text of the post).

I have seen many good service provider has been banned from DP so I go and ask one of them which happen to be my web hoster. As he got ban for 7 day at 1st the the ban period extended to somewhere in october then he notice that the ban would never be lifted anymore. Now what option do they have? Register new account just to be ban again?

This is not happen to 1 or 2 forumer but there is a lot of ppl affected here. Mass banning like this will affecting dp popularity really bad.

Well I guess this matter should be take seriously before

The only thing that concerns me is that it seems the most recent mass bannings also caught a bunch of good service provider (you can look at buy trade section), and it concerns me that if the large-scale bannings continue, my account may be one of the sacrificial dolphins killed in the pursuit of tuna, so to speak.

At this point, you really have no excuse not to know that "PM me" posts are not allowed, and can result in a 7-day ban. The rule's been in place for over a year. Read them, and you won't be so surprised next time you get an infraction / ban email.

@cottoncandylover - It doesn't matter if they're "good service providers." If they break the rules, they get infractions or bans just like anyone else. What concerns me is the large-scale laziness in reading the rules. Do that and you won't have to worry about it. On another note, we won't discuss another banned member's situation with you.

If you have questions about your own infractions, PM a moderator.
