You pretty much summed it up nicely. I know access is new in India, but many seem to forget that when they are trying to sell or promote things to westerners that we have already seen 10 years ago.

Your new scams are old news to us. Your new Social Networking sites, and communities have already been done and are the same start ups we saw fail back in the 90's.

I am not insensitive to the newness of the web in India, but if you want to do business with others in the world, you need to be up to speed with where we are.
Don't try and sell me SEO services using 2003 methods. They may be new to you, but they are already obsolete to us.
    That's all I'm saying.

That's just crazy. I'll spend that much at the bar tonight.

Given that, you should be cleaning up in the web services business because we can't work for those kinds of rates and wages, but you aren't. Unfortunately, the honest, reliable, talented web professionals in India are far outnumbered by the scammers and hacks.
    It's sad but true.

I know that. That is the reason why Indian IT companies are so rich.. They pay Indians peanuts while they charge 10X the money to their clients for work force

I wouldn't say that.. Its just that scams gets noticed faster than quality services. Besides many people in India prefer a 9-5 job working for a MNC rather than doing the online business on their own... A few like me take the risks.. Even then I am a full time employee and so SEO part time. I do own a small business as well. So its pretty much a very different concept in India...

That's the problem here, far too many people trying to make a quick buck from scamming people online, it gives the whole SEO business a really bad name. :/

I think the big thing is getting referrals and viewing the ratings, from the customers or victims.

Hey Bogart, that link wouldn't load for me. I wish SEO.com would have done better. Dan Schultz (RIP) hung out there a lot, as well as many other experienced SEOs, but it is still struggling to stay active. That sucks.

Oop! It looks like the link is finally loading!

I am considering leaving DP because of too much noise. I am not sure if its worth my time. Sharing is good... But this sometimes turns ridiculous..

I couldn't agree more. I have actually posted on this very topic in the past myself. Nothing infuriates me more than someone claiming to be an SEO provider posting a question on how or where to get started with building links. Are you kidding me? Take some pride in what you do. SEO isn't rocket surgery, however there is a lot of information you need to learn before you can claim to be an SEO provider. And yes, I do realize that a lot of you are posting simply for the sake of posting, but that's not what this forum is all about. All of us should make a conscious effort to present the community with legitimate, interesting, and insightful questions. And if you don't know the answer, please move on to the next question. This forum is a great resource for people looking for opinions, best practices, or other information, but sorting through the clutter of thoughtless posts is a bit difficult at times.

I think people attribute reputation to quantity of posts rather than quality of posts

Unless you have ownership in SEO and the ecommerce industry, you will never have the tenacity as an outside service provider or consultant.

Some here just answering basic. Why don't they give some effective advance methods?

Not just giving same and repeated answers all over again. Also I notice that the one who questions have same repeated on other threads. Why they are lazy searching for the thread on their questions?

Share informative ideas through your experience not posting not just dropping links...:D

Good point, I haven't tried to get client or do freelance work and I think you are pointing to right direction hope some freelancers know their rate and their ability so that this won't happen.

I would like to request to DF, to ban those so called seo 'Expert' who are defiling the precious page here. It is right that this profession is getting worse and worse by some dirty worms. I noticed that a simple client has more than 100 seo expert id in his inbox. Recently I received a mail and the person had asked the price. And foot note was so interesting.
"I and sending this mail to hundred seo expert. If your price beats all then you will get the project." I expressed my view in the same word as you written here. He did not reply me. I know someone is spoiling his website and one day he will be here again.

This is where these SEO scammers shine. They can market themselves well and as a result they end up with the job. Poor business owners and webmasters

You are right. These days DP is full scampers. It very eye catching, those ads, cheap service. But we should know what should be the lowest cost of some service. If you want to get cheaper than that you are fallen into the trap. S it is clear some of them really go for price not for quality. Anyway today or tomorrow they will understand their mistake. As far as business is concerned I think we should try to improve our quality, business reputation instead of looking for business here at DP. This doesn't work thesedays
