I've just got my credit card statement and amongst my normal charges there is an extra one for 717 quid which I know nothing at all about. I've spoken to my bank and they are going to send me a load of forms to fill in so they can investigate it. They've also cancelled my card which now means I'm going to have to contact all my hosting providers, PayPal etc and give them new details. Fraudsters, bastards, rant over.
The biggest pain about something like that is all the subscriptions in PayPal. You will have to go in and edit every single one of them to change to the new card. I found that out the hard way because if you don't, and the card it was setup to bill with is not in the account, the subscription will fail and cancel. :-/
my missus has been here before, it took us nearly a year to actually get it sorted Many many forms and phone calls to banks police and the companies that the person doing the fraud bought from. What makes it worse is some of the companies were utter f*****s to us and tried to demand the money back (regardless of the proof it was not her) So good luck
I had a $3000 charge on my US card... Called them up..Faxed one piece of paperwork and that was that. I had a pending Credit for a month or so then it was wiped off. It must be different in the UK...Why doesn't that surprise me
The lady I spoke to wasn't that reassuring, basically they'll investigate it and I "might" get my money back.
Yeah tell me about it. I'd expect them to give me the benefit of the doubt as I am a pretty good customer. Then again as I always pay the balance in full they don't charge me interest so they might see me as being a bad customer who doesn't make them much money.
I still use all US cards. Even taking into account the exchange rate, its still better. They let me call collect so I don't even need to pay for Customer Service. The fact that the Government charges you here a yearly "tax" drives me crazy. Plus the major banks have the worst customer service. I have probably disputed around 5 or 6 charges in the last 10 years and I have always found it to be an easy process. This story only tells me I should keep my US cards. And you are right, paying your bill every month makes you a horrible customer
