Rankmaniac college competition: Hi digitalpoint, we're Caltech students in a computer science class called "Ideas Behind the Web." Our assignment is to create a webpage which will rank highly on Google or Bing for the search query "rankmaniac 2011" or "rankmaniac" (without quotes). Our site http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~kratsg/RankManiac2011 isn't that great right now, but we could use your tips / advice! One of the things we're planning on doing is creating a game where we fetch a random Wikipedia article and you would try and guess what article it is... We're open to ideas and suggestions and we've got considerable background in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Thanks!
I think you can easily rank on that keyword since its not that competitive I'm sure you'll be successful as long as the keywords place in meta title and meta description.
@Excel8, What would you imagine is the best way to write out the meta title/description tags? We have this currently: <meta name="description" content="This is the official page for the RankManiac 2011 competition from Caltech's CS144 class! We are a group of top-notch web engineers who have banded together to dominate Google's ranking system with the phrase: RankManiac 2011. If you search for us using RankManiac 2011 and we show up on the first page, great... But if you search for us and we are within the first 5 links - we have done our job as RankManiacs for RankManiac 2011!"> <meta name="keywords" content="RankManiac 2011, rankmaniac 2011, 2011, rank, maniac, Rank, Maniac, RankManiac, CS144, CS144 competition, giordon, giordon stark"> Code (markup): @mrphantuan... thanks?
