if any one have not map site in his/her web site then can he get ranking on google and yahoo actully some one asked me that if i have no site map in my web site so can search engine get me listed or not or is it nesassery for getting top 10 in google
site-map is only for the crawlers to know that u have so many url in ur domain, so that its crawlability efficiency increase and it become easier for it to crawl ur website. Ur ranking doesnt depend n ur sitemap.
I don't have a google sitemap and my site ranks for all kinds of keywords. Google sitemap is only for database driven sites where google won't automatically be able to distinguish duplicate content and stuff like that.
It is not comulsory but Site map plays an important role which makes crawler easier to crwal your sites whole pages. containg in your site...
does there any effect if pages have more than 5000, mean what are advantegeous. Also what if site have more than 200 links on web page
Microsoft and the New York Times are examples of sites that do not really care about Google and Yahoo sitemaps for crawling. Even though they have human readeable sitemaps in txt or html format. In order to get all your pages indexed you need to add those links to yoru sitemap.
Essentially, a link to a page is a vote for the page. When Google sees the "vote," Google follows it. In the case of sitemaps, there is an additional vote for the page, so the extra vote gets a little extra attention. Plus, Google sitemaps were set up for webmasters to communicate with Google about changes in their site. Lastly, sitemaps make it easier for search engines to 'crawl' your site. Personally, when I create a new page in my site, I submit my new sitemap to Google. If the page is of any importance, I'll point a link at it from an outside source, like a blog for example. Usually, my pages get indexed in 3-5 days.
my site got no sitemap. (i dont know how to make one ) but my site still got listed after submission and get a fair result on some keywords. so it's not necessary but having sitemap is good if your site got many contents. ^^
Small sites with a very simple structure and most of the files in the root directory are probably fine without a site map. The reason for a site map is: 1. To help the spiders find and crawl all your pages (even though they might choose not to). 2. To help your visitors find information quickly and easily. On large sites I will often just go to the site map as it is so much easier than trying to navigate a zillion pages. Much like I would open a book an look for a table of contents. A site with a deep structure (buried folders, subdomains, etc.) will benefit greatly from having a sitemap the Spiders can find and crawl at the root level.
Having a site map on your site won't directly get you a ranking, but it will greatly aid the search engine spiders in indexing your site. Most SEO's will recommend that your site have a site map that is linked from every page of your site. We're talking about a standard html site map that is part of your site, not an XML site map for Google Webmaster Tools or Yahoo Site Explorer. This helps both visitors and spiders. Go to any major corporate web site for examples.
another question come accross during above dicussion, If someone have 100 link on website. Each page or link have different PR mean from 0 to 10. How the google calculate the PR of website. Will it be average of all or it will be PR of main page.
