It's because MSN overvalues the keyword being in the domain name. For example, I operate philosophy-forums.com, and when I search "philosophy forums" on msn I'm near the top, but on google/yahoo I'm nowhere to be found.

you need to read more seo tips/articles and do the dirty work before you go here and complain why you're not ranking in Google. ;)

Different SEs of course have also different algorithms. Both are using different factors in measuring the "value" of a site.

Search engine has different algorithms. Google gives more importance to quality links while msn gives priority on site contents.

MSN's more bothered with number of links - Google quality of links

I've found it very easy to rank on MSN, Google is a lot harder

There's so many reasons why you rank well on MSN and not Google ... MSN is typically a million times easier to rank on than Google ... how old is the site, have you done any link develepment and how quality are the links ... a link to MSN is not the same as a link to Google, I haven't looked at the site as I am sure it's not work safe but you need to look at all aspects of onsite optimisation too ...

SE's has different algorithm. That's why you have to know what SE's is your targeted first that drives you traffic..
