Ranking well in Google Images

You know, I've figured out, you can get traffic from Google images as well, if you have some sort of script that prevents images from being accessed in a frame (like Google's). Yet nobody seems to try to rank well for that. Anybody know what's important (apart from image names off course) or anybody have any stories to share regarding Google Image Search?

Yea i saw that too but ive no idea what the criteria would be. I would guess it was a mixture of image name and relevancy of the site it comes from.
I see the new amazon SE is displaying images in the same instance of a text search.

My guess is that image name, page context (like adsense workings) keywords distance from img tag in code and inurl and intitle probably help. Last but probably most important, ALT tags.

I wouldn't be too cocky about frame breaking scripts, it's possible google might be spotting these and penalizing (they don't like people who break "back" button functionability, so I assume they won't like breaking out of frames from their image search)

Of course on the same note, theres nothing wrong with hotlink prevention which would stop images displaying from viewing with the frame on.

Caroline, What keywords are you interested in for the image search?

I'm analyzing some results of the image section, so far I've noticed that .edu domains are doing well especially for generic searches. But if I had more idea of what you were trying to get I'd probably come up with better conclusions.
