In another thread someone said the following: "Quality AFAIK has absolutely nothing to do with PR. For a site about dogs to get a high PR it doesn't matter whether you buy 10 PR8 links from sites about cats, dogs or knitting. For ranking it does, for PR it's a pile of bollocks suggesting quality matters." OK...what is the difference between PR and ranking?
PR is a number from 0-10 that shows the overall quality of your site according to Google. Ranking is how your site does for a specific key word search. So if you are PR7 yet rank 1,000,000 for the search term "dog", you won't see traffic for people searching for "dog" no matter how good your site is. However that garbage BH site that has a PR of 0 but ranks number 1 for "dog" is getting lots of traffic. ***edit....just to clarify PR doesnt actually mean how good your site it, just how it ranks with a really stupid, blockheaded system put forth by your god Google.
PR is how important Google sees your page. SERP is how relevant your page relates to the search terms. Source: http://www.google.com/technology/
Thanks...that makes sense. I knew about PR but didn't know how it related to ranking. Anyone want to share more about this? Like how PR relates to ranking (it must, right, cause if it doesn't, why care about it?)
Why care about PR- Helps you in Link exch and Link Sales. Pay a visit to both these forums in DP and you will understand better. If you want an alternative to PR here it is.. it is a tool on its own http://www.seomoz.org/tools/page-strength.php
serp is most important thing for hits your site from google. But i think pr too important for serp. Becasue some high pr sites get high serps. Thanks Mustafa
best post in this thread! unless you're selling links, serps is almost always the thing to shoot for.
