Hi guys, I have a new blog that is starting to show some signs of ranking. It shows 25th on the UK but still no ranking on the COM. Are these two, UK and COM, connected in some way ? If I'm ranked on one then is it a good sign for the near future ? Thanks
UK and COM are totally separate systems but they likely use a very similar algorithm to rank websites and you should see results on the COM version soon.
Geographic locations enters the difference on this two Google domains, so if you target Google.com rankings, get more backlinks from .com related or US based sites.
.com means that is universal whether .uk means for UK region search engine is showing details. If your site from UK then getting rank in .uk is good result
both are completely different markets.. and google search is also very different.. optimising for the .com is much dificult and you have to do atleast thrice the optimisation that you do just for .co.uk search results..
COM is mainly US and Commonly Average of All Data Data Center of Google. It take some more time to rank in .com
Mostly UK based websites or blogs get relevant ranking into .UK engine, because .UK target UK audience and provide them local based results.
Google rankings may get affected by Geo-location... Google always tries to give accurate results which may get influenced by the Geo-location of the keyword / user. Here is some explanation how rankings affected by geo location. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=7151087279bde243&hl=en
What sort of domain do you have - a .co.uk or a .com? If you have a .co.uk, it'll be difficult to get to rank in the US.
