Hi people, Have 2 sites thats about 6 months old. They just been indexed in google and then left alone and about a month or two ago i started working with them. More content and building links as usual. The thing now is that MSN ranks my sites as number 1 and other site as number 4 on their main keywords. Google pretty much dosent rank me at all.. place 300-400 or something. Could the conclusion be that i have done my seo work correct and i should just let time pass for Google to understand it? Since my domains are fairly new i guess google still have some mean filters for them. Anyone have some ideas about this? Maybe it means i have optimized the wrong way and just MSN like it for some reason? BR, Johanna
You can wait and see... If they are new, naturally, Google will give your site more room.. But the thing is just because you gained a good ranking in MSN, doesn't mean that you can do the same with Google. So, I guess more SEO work would be beneficial for you.. Cheers!
Continue your link building. Make sure that you use variations of your keywords in the link text. And remember the more competition you have for your keywords the harder it will be to rank. So start thinking about keywords that will bring traffic, but don't have a lot of competition.
If you would have worked on your SEO before (on-page) and as soon as you got indexed, you could possibly be ranking in Google now depending on competition. You just started building links. Depending on what terms your trying to rank for, it could take another month, 6 months, a year, etc Those who are new to SEO must realize that sizing up the competition is half the battle, and you can get a general time frame and have an idea of what to expect. By sizing up the competition, I mean searching for the terms you wish to rank for, taking the sites that rank and finding the backlinks they have and the anchor text of those backlinks, visiting the sites and finding flaws, etc. There are a lot of factors you have to take into consideration.
its harder to rank in google?.. base from my own experience its harder for me to rank in MSN..you can rank at Google depends on how you optimize your site..
Definitely smart to focus on getting high quality links. I'd also suggest looking at the top ranking sites in google, and try to figure out what they did to get there, and duplicate! Matt
Each search engine ranks websites differently - I have no real solid idea of how each one works. However, I do know that for Google, if you create a sitemap for your site and then submit the sitemap to your Google webmaster account it will get indexed within a few days. I tried this for a couple of sites and it worked quite well.
I think no one do have any stretergy to get higher in msn . if have than it must be fail, because it won't match with google guidelines. having listings in google is lot better than msn.
