Hey guys, Finally the link building has paid off and I've hit top 10 on 90% of the google regions worldwide. Almost every one except .CO.UK which is the market I'm after. Obviously the search terms are more competitive in the UK as that's where this market is. The difference in my ranking is about 45 places for a couple of the keys, and one isnt even in top 100 which is 2nd page in .com. Just wondering what people have tried and tested to rank locally. Before anyone suggests it, I've: 1) Moved to a UK host, defo on UK servers with a UK IP 2) Set UK in webmaster tools 3) Tried to get some UK backlinks but not sure where the best place to get these is? Anyone? Maybe it justs takes longer to rank in the UK for these terms as ONE of them has hit top 10 for the UK also in the past week. Thanks guys! tom
I'd try seting up the UK as local region in Webmaster tools, but I'm not sure on the issue. I guess it would ad something to your rank. At least bump those competitors that are assigned globally and have a similar SERP. You may also consider just buying that spot through Adwords, if your business allows for such investments!
Hi, I have site, which is top 10 in google.co.uk for more then 200 keywords, including: "movers", "removals","moving companies".I got these results for 1 year with budget less then $100.I'm doing only wite hat seo.My site is hosted on USA server-no problem at all for rankings.Your content should be optimized (more then 150 different factors) and then you need some quality links from relevent sites and you are done!!!The biggest seo mith is that you need to spend lot's of money for links to have good rankings. The competition of some of my keywords is: 160 000 000 results and the site is on the 4th place. My site is 2 years old,but overrank 12 years old sites. So,optimise your content, get few nice links and you are done!
U have a .co.uk TLD though which I believe makes the same difference as hosting in the UK with a .com but thanks for the info. Yeah I hope to start making some money soon. Thanks too Zhoog but in the first post I stated this had been done. Regards tom
country specific TLD local hosting link form the same region within related niche thats all there is to it. you still can rank without any of them but for competitive terms, they all help out at the end
You can get some UK backlinks from forums, article directories, web directories that are hosted in UK Server or have .co.uk domain extension. You can also exchange links from relevant UK sites.
