I have one site and it was ranking on 1st position on Google, Yahoo and MSN on targeted keywords but after renewal in november’08 of this domain I lost my position in Google, Yahoo and MSN on my targeted keywords even though I cannot found my site in 500+ ranking but whenever I type my domain name in major search engines it shows perfectly so any one can help me out about this type of problems. I have tried a lot to get my previous rank but I couldn’t make it out. Please help me and let me know any suggestion if anyone have.
Loosing from #1 to nothing means sure u r penalized, So better u revise what u done may be link from any spam site or duplicate content. Use G webmaster tool and some problem on content it will shown and also will show any broken links if u submit XML sitemap
I've had exactly the same thing. Lost all my links in webmaster tools for a few days then they came back, but my position hasn't recovered. First dropped about a week and a half ago. If it's down to links on bad sites then that means anyone could submit my site to a bad community and have my site bounced out of the SERPs.
Was it you furniture site? I had my furniture site penalised on the 16/12 it took a -60 place dive for all search terms. I think a compeditor may have been doing some underhanded tactics i know of another furniture site that also took a 60 place dive for all search terms. They bounced back in the serps on the 24/12. I have been bugging the google help forum for some clues so i can take action. All you can do is remove any spammy content and stop using anything like TNX or any other paid linking schemes you may be using amd ask google to be reincluded in the google tool section. But its pure chance you will find exactly what google doesn't like. They change their algo all the time and something that has passed for the past 2 years will all of a sudden get you penalised. What really annoys me is when a site copies your contant all you can really do is wait for the offending page to be taken out of the Google cache.
wait a bit.. if your not penalized.. u'll be fine again... if you asre penalized... contact goog and clear it
Try link:yoursitename and see if your site shows up to clarify if your website was banned from the website or not. If your web site dropped down the top 10 results, it's probably due to the competitors and you need more publicity to compete with them. You probably don't have to worry, the top 10 Google results go up and down a lot.
This happens every year for a lot of site. Seems like GOOG does things when a lot of people don't use the Internet. It usually takes a couple of weeks before it comes back to normal, so around the middle of january you'll be back again with some minor changes. I know it sucks, because I have been there many times. I am there this year too but wasn't hit as hard this time and starting to rebound.
Wait for a couple of weeks for your site to bounce back otherwise it has been penalized..If you are penalized try removing those links which may have got you penalization.. Sitewide links on all the pages of a site..
I'm not sure you got the Google Penalized, I think you get the Google Sandbox. For sure just contact the Google Support at Google Webmaster Central.
you mentioned renewing your domain, anything strange happen there? Did you renew late? Did you renew for just 1 year when you were at 4 years (or more than 1 year) previously?
I've seen a few furniture sites doing this. All have eventually bounced back. Will have a look around and clean up anything that might be harming us, unfortunately I don't have control over external links so if Google is now penalising for these there's gonna be a lot of webmasters buying links for rival sites in the near future. I hope it comes back soon, it's not like it's not a genuine site.
In regards to the lost links, google webmaster tools lost my links about a week ago as well, but it did not affect my SERP. But once I got the links back, the number of backlinks registered was about 1/2 of what it was before... that did affect my SERP.
