First of let me say I am a novice at SEO. I have managed to rank the main page of my site for my 3 main keywords. I am now wondering how I rank inner pages for different less popular terms. For instance I run a real estate site and my main city is Cedar City but I also sell homes in Brian Head, Parowan, Enoch, Duck Creek and New Harmony. I have made individual pages for each of these towns ect but they arent ranking. Is there something else or more that I need to do to get these inner pages to rank? Any help would be great, thx in advance.
Do exactly what you did for your main domain to the inner pages. Links to the inner pages from other sites with the link text as the keywords etc. You could write real estate articles on each city and submit them to ezinearticles with the links in the resource box pointing to your inner pages, seperately of course. Do what GADOOD has said. Other things to do is - Make url naming using keywords means city+key+words.htm - Customized Title, description and keywords for all pages based on their contents - Good Interlinking - create html sitemap in your site such that each page can be visited by SE Crawler by just 2-3 visits. - google, yahoo sitemap submission.
So basically what you are saying is i need to start building links to inner pages with anchor text being the keywords im targeting for those pages. I already Have custome titles, descriptions and keyowrds for contect, I have good interlinking, I have sitemaps ect. I guess its back to the dang link building.
If there were a single, most-important thing you could do to maximally optimize your pages for the SEs, building backlinks with your keywords in (as) the anchor text is probably it. Make sure to include each page's keywords in its meta tags, as well - there are a lot of conflicting opinions about the importance of meta tags these days, but I always optimize them as part of my SEO efforts - just to be sure.
