    Hello,

I know that backlinks are counted in ranking.
I also believe that keyword density is a factor.
What else matters to improve search engine ranking results?
    Thanks.

There are many factors which improve your SERPS and its not an exact science and it comes down to trial and error over a period of time.

Heres a list of factors that can influence your SERPS (in no particular order and not a complete list):
    • <TITLE> tag
    • <META> tags
    • Keyword density
    • PR
    • Backlinks
    • Page structure
    • Key backlinks such as dmoz
    • Domain age
    • Uniqueness of content

    title tag
    description meta tag
other meta tags only relevant for live search (MSN)

Key word density isn't as important as it used to be

links from related sites is important
links with appropriate key words is important
coding with headings (h1, h2 etc.) will help

Yes missed the coding with headings.... that does help. Yes some of these are more important than others and all search engines are different.

In my opinion it is best to do all of it to cover all bases.

    Things to add:

    Domain Name
    Script Name
    Directory Name
Length of Directories (ie Bad for 7 deep)
Static Pages (page.html instead of .php?var=foo&bar=1&name=chris&action=post)
    Updating Content
    Natural Growth in Pages
