ok i just want to brush up on my memory but if i remember correctly if i have bunch of quality links to my site with the link title as "forum" then i should rank higher for the keyword "forum" right?

That seems to be the general rumblings I have heard. I use a few different ones for my directory submissions, but I stick with the most popular synonyms of the keywords.

 

you should variation in anchor text. example: toni's car, toni car, toni's cars, etc.
