Heres the story, I run a gaming website and I am only receiving 20-40 visitors a day. I get a bit of traffic from long tail keywords in google but I cannot seem to get more than a few visitors from SERPs. How would I go about ranking really high for a keyword that was the name of a game? For instance Gran Turismo 5. Would I just write like 5 decent articles on the game? How would I start ranking high for these keywords? Thanks a lot guys!
Well, if your are targeting long tal keyword then you may get less traffic because of long tail keywords have less search volume and for targeting your generic keyword you will get more traffic if you rank among top but for that you have to work hard on building quality link for your site.
I want to rank for short keywords that have a low competition and quite high search quantity. For instance I looked up a Gran Turismo 5 and found it had low competition and quite a high number of searches per month. How would I go about ranking for that?
Idealy you want the keywords Gran Turismo 5 to be in the URL, meta title tag, meta description tag and about 1%-2% throughout the page content Then you will need to garner backlinks with the keywords Gran Turismo 5 as anchor text It is also a good idea to vary your anchor text slightly (looks more natural) What I would do is... acquire about 80% of baclinks with Gran Turismo 5 and the other 20% using different variations
Do I have to get hundreds of links to that page? Or can I just get links for all the pages on my site and expect to gain higher rankings? Also by anchor text I take it that its this - <a href="mysite.html/Gran-turismo">Anchor Text</a>? I have always wondered. Also how many back links would it take to get the top ranking position? Just more than the one at the top? Depending on my keyword density? Thanks!
Each page should be treated differently when it comes to link building. I suggest you to brush up your onsite SEO first before heading to external link building. Then, go with link building from relevant websites. As for "Anchor Text", I suggest using "Gran-Turismo" instead of using "Mysite" as anchored. There are no real calculation that shows how many backlinks you need to get top position. All you need to do is get quality backlinks from related sites pointing to your website using proper anchored keywords at moderate level. If you can get 5-10 backlinks a day, that will be a good start. Remember, a sudden increase in # of backlinks will trigger spam alert and your website might get some penalty in SERP ranking. We only want to increase our ranking and not going the other way round. Try to submit unique articles to different article directories to get unique IP backlinks. Next, you can join gaming forums with a signature link to your website and be active in that forum. Good luck with your campaign!
create contextual relevant back links for particular keyword with anchor text. use higher blog, forum do foloow back links.
Hi, Good Question, most of the SEO face this problem, the point is that for all long tail keywords you less competition compare to the generic terms and so is the case with the search volume of that keywords this implies that you get less traffic for that particular keywords.Do off page optimization for the generic keyword that you are targeting.
