The niche and the keyword im targeting have 2million results in google searches. Is it possible and/or very hard to rank high in the serps for my niche? And is directory backlinks still worth it or does anyone know of a better/easier way to get good and quality backlinks? Any info is appreciated
2 million result is not very competitive, You should get a top 5 result pretty easy, keyword related backlinks should get you there in a couple of months or sooner. try article submissions and blog posting etc.
What do allinanchor and allintitle have to say ? And what kind of authority do the sites coming in the top 10 currently wield ?
The tool to use is Google, and no 5 million should be very easy.. A new domain and 2 or 3 weeks should have you on page one.
Is it possible to be the top 1 result in a niche of 3million results and with the websites averaging 6k backlinks? How much time should it take?
Is that 6k backlinks from 6k websites, or is it 6k from 1 site (example, 1 sitewide link in a forum). That makes a big difference if you want the right answer, in any case, it is pretty possible.
it all depends on the anchor text of those 6k backlinks with 3 millions results it should only take a bit of onsite SEO and maybe 100 low quality links.
In my field, for example, there are 44,000,000 hits if I just type in the 2 word phrase. If I use allinanchor and allintext it's between 10,000 and 311,000 I'm going up against. I have slipped into position #10 in mine with a lot of work and 1 article so far. Mostly a LOT of SEO. Now that I'm happy with that one, I am working on 2-3 other keywords.

Just go to google and in the search field type in allinanchor:your keyword and hit seach. Same thing with allintitle.
Just type in allinachor: your keyword and see how many sites are using that anchor + building links for it. You can also type in the link:www.domain.com command on yahoo and see how many links your competitor has.
