Ranking for Wrong Page

    Hello Friends,

    I am got a client site. The domain of site is more than 12 yrs old. Issue are:
    • Keywords set for internal pages are ranking for home page.
    • Link profile have 80% links pointing to home page with link text set for internal pages.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated greatly :)
    If any other information need, please let me know

    if you set keyword with inner page but it rank with another page its mean Google give value of this page. and it happen when your targeted page have more keyword then your inner page or if you work more then inner page.
    for resolve this you need check your keyword density properly don't put same keyword in 2 or more pages. build some quality back-links

    It simply means the inner pages is more relevant / has more authority for that specific keyword you want to target than the home page.

    You can transfer that authority with 301 or canonical tags but the question is will the user coming from that keyword bounce more when reach to the inner page? or home page?

    If you do manage to get the home page to rank high for the keyword you are targeting, but if the content is not relevant, users will just bounce anyways.
