I have wondered about this for a long time now... Do you guys find that it is harder to rank a SUBPAGE for a main keyword, compared to ranking the homepage? It seems to me that it has always been easier to rank the homepage of a website rather than a subpage. However, in some cases (IE: when using brand name physical product keywords) it makes more sense to try to rank a SUBPAGE rather than the homepage (and would look better if you get MANUALLY reviewed by google, which is very common nowadays). What do you guys think? Is is stupid to use a subpage for a main keyword? And this is assuming you are using a new domain, not an aged domain. I am pretty sure that with an AGED domain it is stupid to use anything OTHER than the high PR homepage to rank for a main keyword.
Yes generally Ive found subpages can be harder to rank, although if you put more effort into a subpage it can easily be ranked higher then the homepage.. Its always ideal to try to rank your subpages as well as this gives you a broader amount of keywords you are ranked for and with that your site will get more impressions in google searches.
I feel no difference in ranking any page (Homepage or SubPage) What you have to do is give it a link name..... for example I am having a keyword named "beautiful flowers 2012" To target for this keyword you should make a URL like this yourwebsite.com/beautiful-flowers-2012.html Now inside this page maintain a keyword density of 5-6% for the keyword and there is nothing now that can stop you from ranking high Cheers
You are most welcome... If there is anything ever you want to ask about SEO you can P.M me anytime.... Always glad to help.... All the best....
The main keyword is better on home page, and also you can use subpages for Long Tail keywords.. that can take traffic before the harder keyword.
