Ok i have a credit card website that is 2 months old, i have submitted to directories, written articles, the whole deal for about the last 6 weeks. Here is what i dont understand my keywords im targeting are Credit Cards, Low Interest Credit Cards, Bad Credit Credit Cards, Student Credit Cards, Secured Credit Cards, now i am not in the top 100 for any of these on google, and i dont exspect to be this soon. I am however on the first page for bad credit credit cards low annual fee, im in the #5 spot out of 2,650,000. Then i am on page #5 for creditcards for bad credit, out of 11,400,000. Then im on page #2 for bad credit offers, out of 9,430,000 . My question is why am i ranking for these keywords, that im not really even targeting, but the ones i am targeting have less results # wise than some of these ???? really love to try to understand this. Thanks everybody.
Go analyze the result pages and compare to your page that you want to rank high. The algorithm is the same. Just spend time to do the research. It is good for you own good because the algo is always changing. So when it changes later on you know how to handle your self instead of always in state of confusion.
Well when Google spider your page they put so many stuff under consideration. Your site is only 2 mo old. your result are fantastic. 3-4 keywords on first page of google thats excelant. How ever use keyword tools from Yahoo marketing (formaly overture) their tool is excelant. what ever # they give you time 3 is the search result by google. you might target major keywords but competition is so high it will take for ever you even see your keywords in first 500. Now after you get all this info this is what you do: pick 20-30 keywords or phrases with min or average traffic. then optimize your site base on those keywords (note do not remove keywords or phrases that you are already ranking on google) then submit your site once again. make sure your contents are relevant and good. then keep track of your result. when you start ranking high on those keywords start adding major keywords as well. goodluck
yes, your site is too new and based on this your results are very nice. why you rank for those keywords? well, they all have something to do with your targeted keywords and I think the competition for those aren't as high as the results suggest. Keep in mind: the results are not enough to say if a keyword is a difficult one to rank high for!
Ok thanks for the help, i will keep a eye also on my site on those pages i do rank for, and see if they stay there or drop out. Lots to learn about all this seo stuff.
