Ok , I was reading the johnchow blog and I read that he is ranking #1 in google for the keyword : "make money online" ... I've been thinking about what this actually means ... I understand that when a user types "make money online" in google, that the first site wich is found is a johnchow page... Now, I am left with some questions that I would like have answered. So... does that ranking mean that he has : 1) optimized ALL the posts in the particular category of "make money online" for the searchterm "make money online" ?? Meaning basicly that he performed SEO in that category primarily to rank well for that search term ? If so, then what about the other related search terms such as "online earning", "online money making" ... and so on ??? 2) enough backlinks from relevant sites to the topic, towards this category of "make money online" in order to receive a hight google PR ?? 3) He says he says no 1 for "making money online" but what about the other categories on his site... hes doesn't rank near #1 for "fine dining" or other category search terms... 4) So what is the difference that is applied by him to the category of "making money online" and the category of "fine dining" ? Wich in the end results in on e of the two ranking at #1... Regards, -FOP- ps... You are correct on the methods he has used to rank number 1 for the term "make money online" John has links for the variation of the term from many sites within that field. Even though he ranks #1 for it he says it doesn't really matter to him income wise. That term only brings him 163 hits a day. He uses that term to illustrate the techniques he uses to rank for a keyword. His site is focused on making money online the other categories are just his ramblings. Other bloggers link to the money related articles and techniques. I am sure if he wanted to rank for fine dining he would build contacts with fine dining sites and made sure the bulk of his content related to fine dining.
