Are you trying to get yourself unwanted attention from likes of Google. Don't mess it up I've just joined COOP and would like to see some benefits before COOP ads get penalized by search engines.
That is what the search engines don't need to read. Co-op is labelled an advertising network for a reason, SERPs are a side effect ...
Here's what is easily identifiable to engines regarding link acquisition: anchor consistency acquisition rate churn The first two can be controlled by Coop users. The third is based on system functionality. So I've just read a couple hundred posts from this thread that's spanned over a few months. During that time, did the Coop have its static-link upgrade? If so, at what date? That would allow users to control churn. Also, does the Coop's new static feature make outbound links static, inbound links static, or both? (Sorry, haven't used the Coop in a while but may want to switch back)
And tonight finds uccf.org down in the 800's.... My own sites are similarly tanked. Are we seeing a major change in the google algo?
I would expect so. I'm seeing terms with COOP weight dropping like flies. Terms without coop weight are remaining where they are........
Sorry for the bad English. My site with coop-ads is also going down EXTREMLY last two days in Google SERPs for the coop-words (I used textlinks to my site only). Are there other Webmasters here who see the same ? I did no other changes on my site (PR5, >100 backlinks without coop).
My sites that dropped yesterday are regaining their positions today. ps. Why does adsense show four ads about Yarn on this page?
Perrow, did you check all data centers, e.g. with mcdar.net ? There is only one dc, where my positions are still good. So I seem to have a problem. What about your site ?
All my sites got hit hard, especially the more senior ones. I have a few domains reg'd in 1999. They are my best revenue earners and got hit the hardest. I have NOT been using the COOP for 6 months or so. So I think this update goes a lot deeper than link churning...more to consider.
I agree...the Coop is not the only factor (if it is one at all)...My biggest site affected was not in the Coop and was long established with natural linking Garfield - There is another thread going on this with some great analysis by McDar - You may want to read through it
Well.. I have a 5 year old site with about 1000 natural links prior to co-op just got hit by Google over the weekend. It dropped from #1 to #18. It has ranked #1 for the last 3 years! Is this co-op related or something else? I see the Charity site has also disappeared.
My site is now dancing up and down for some hours... yfs1, could you please give me a link to this thread, because I'm afraid that my English is not so good that I can find this thread here.
Its not Coop, solely at least. I stopped using the coop months ago for my sites. I display ads, but dont use weight. The site that displayed ads did drop off the map though - more so than the sites that didn't display them.
Seems pretty unbiased to me. Everyone is taking a shit kicking. This may be too early to surmise but I am starting to see a pattern of 'fat cat' sites taking the biggest beatings. As I mentioned earlier my 2 'fat cat ' sites took the hardest hit. On the other hand ALL my competitors, who have also dominated the top 10 for years, are also gone . Is it possible Google is saying 'let's let some of the little guys have a piece of the pie?' Just a thought
Nope. #1 site for a keyword "garden decor" has been there for about 2 years now. Most inbounds are reciprocal for that particular site as far as I can tell. Its not a fat cat issue. Possibly google is trying to detect purchased links (maybe 4-5+ outgoing links in a row on a given site are all devauled and considered purchased).
I don't buy links and all my fat cats got run over by a car. 100+ probabilities/possibilities! Hell I'm going back to work till the dust settles .
Well, if that is the case, then all of the blogs out there that have tons of outgoing links on their homepages, to other blogs, would be gone as well. I don't see G doing something like that IMHO.
If it is about link acquisition, I can say it's hitting Link Vault too. I've all but disappeared from Google.
I think it's MUCH bigger that that. Perhaps your monitor is being divided by the Se's. Above fold links are more valuable than below fold links. Specifically the footer. I keep reading this over and over. Anyways the best advice is wait till the dust settles, then resume the cat and mouse game .
