Ranking dropped, can't get it back

    Hi everyone,

I have a site that I've been promoting for a while, I used manual blog comments and I got ranked VERY well, was the first/second result on my primary keyword.

I had another website of mine, on a different server that I have made some experiments with and it had site wide links to my primary website that ranked well.

One day my other website got slapped due to (i think) irrelevant content placement on the page. During the next couple of days, I was kicked to the third/fourth page on Google on my primary website that was ranking so well.

I didn't notice immediately, and even after I noticed I didn't really link the two things together as I didn't remember that I have site wide links on one to the other.

Anyways, this situation has been going on for about 1-2 months until I realized and made the connection between the two. I removed the link and since then the ranking of my primary site didn't change at all. I have a lot of links, it ranked well but now it just doesn't. I'm still in the fourth or fifth page (even though I have sitelinks! how is that even possible?)

Is there any technique that you know of that can:

    1. tell me if in fact i should be ranked higher and got slapped or punished or maybe I should not be ranked first by now.

    2. tell me how to get out of this situation, I thought that google slapping me will last about two months but it seems to be going on much longer..

    Thanks,

I would like to give following advices --

Keep updating the site with regularity and unique content.
    Comments on other blogs actively.
    Use social media.
    Get as much traffic.
wait for google to re-consider you.

-- Also check what competitors are doing.
-- Also check did you changed your entire keyword strategy ?

    Kind Regards.

May be your website has been effected by Google Panda update over your duplicate content or your with your content management system. Try to build fresh content and resubmit your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tool

What overall timeframe did this happen in? You might have gotten slapped with a penalty.

It totally depends on your website. Regardless of what you think, the algorithm of the search engines will pick out the crap and ban/ignore it more often than not. Why not post your link so we can check out why?
